House Oversight Subcommittee Schedules Series of NARA Hearings

On Wednesday, June 9, 2010, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Information Policy, Census and National Archives Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled, “Strengthening the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.” The hearing will take place at 2:00 p.m. in room 2154 Rayburn House Office Building. Witnesses from a number of the National Coalition for History’s historical and archival membership organizations are scheduled to testify.

This is the first of three oversight hearings the Subcommittee will hold in June on the programs and activities of the National Archives and Records Administration.

A hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 17 to review federal agency compliance with their records management responsibilities under the Federal Records Act. The third hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 24 on NARA’s National Declassification Center.
