Civil War Preservation Trust Issues 2009 “Most Endangered Battlefields” List

At a news conference on March 18, the Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT) unveiled its annual report on the status of the nation’s historic battlegrounds. The report, entitled History Under Siege: A Guide to America’s Most Endangered Civil War Battlefields, identifies the most threatened Civil War sites in the United States and what can be done to save them.

History Under Siege: A Guide to America’s Most Endangered Civil War Battlefields is composed of two parts. The first section presents the 10 most endangered battlefields in the nation, providing a brief description of the history and preservation status of each site. The second section briefly describes the 15 additional “at risk” sites that round out the top 25 endangered Civil War battlefields in the United States.
