Joe Burris,"Paper Chase," Baltimore Sun, 3 September, describes the reservations that Taylor Branch, David Garrow, and I have about whether scholars will have unobstructed access to research in and fair use rights to publish findings in the Martin Luther King Papers that were recently purchased from the King Estate by a consortium of private interests here in Atlanta. Because the agreement between the Estate and the private consortium has not been made public, our doubts about it are not assuaged.
