Has anyone heard about the condition of the New Orleans Notarial Archives in the CBD?

Thanks to Emmet Larkin and George Bernstein for the very welcome news that "Herman and Paulette are safe and sound and have returned to Harahan and can be reached by telephone at home."

I can't get an answer to this: If Ph.D students with fellowships and tuition scholarships enroll for full-time study at other universities for fall term, how will Tulane handle the issue of tuition? I am enrolled now at University of South Carolina - they have given NO tuition waiver (3 weeks ago they gave me a different impression) and want me to sign a promissory note for thousands of dollars of fall tuition. Since I have a tuition scholarship at Tulane, I can't assume that Tulane will pay this when it comes due. Then I am left with a debt for USC tuition. HELP. Other doctoral students with tuition scholarships: What do you know about this?
Are any of you enrolled elsewhere for fall?

On behalf of the Department of History at Purdue University, I want the graduate students in the Department of History at Tulane University to know that they can enroll temporarily at Purdue so that they will not lose time toward their degree. The Graduate School will admit students as post-baccalaureate students and waive the application fee. Other financial matters and arrangements can be worked out. Ultimately, I am certain that you would want to return to Tulane when everything is in order. Professor Boyden has asked that I post this message in case anyone is interested. If so, please contact me: Doug Hurt, Head, Department of History, Purdue University at dhurt@cla.purdue.edu or call me at 765-494-4122.

Hi Everyone, In GA with family and dogs. We left New Orleans with grandson amd extended family members (4 car caravan) sunday night around 5:00pm. Made it to GA 15 hours later. I was so proud of my Saturn. We are scattered but well and safe. Everyone here has just been so wonderful, patient, understanding, and so so helpful. It's overwhelming!

I spoke with another Tulane employee about a week ago and she said that Pam Smith is in Laffyette (spelling)...and doing fine. Some of her New Orleans family are in Houston and doing well. Hopefully Hurrican Rita will behave herself.

I am in contact with Professor Boyden at least once a week (when ever we can get a good connection.)

I miss you all very much and can't wait to return to Tulane and the best department on campus.

C. U. all real soon.
