Victorianists everywhere will be delighted to hear that the Carlyle Letters are now available. This free resource incorporates the letters of both Thomas Carlyle and his wife, Jane Welsh Carlyle; between them, they corresponded with nearly every major figure of the age--in Britain, in America, and in Europe. Everything is available in full text. As a scholarly resource, the site shares in the scope of such projects as the Darwin Correspondence Project (warning: site very slow on the evening of 9/15). For an effort on what is currently a much smaller scale, see The Victorian Women Writers' Letters Project, which hosts a searchable database of the letters of Anna Jameson and Harriet Martineau.
