The American public wanted to send George W. Bush a message: Understanding the Islamofascist threat is not enough. One must also be willing to act decisively to meet it and his administration failed to do so. Instead, it acted gingerly on the central Iraq front and its failures are threatening to undermine the the Afghani front too.
Sending Bush a message means giving Democrats a chance just as teaching Fatah a lesson meant giving Hamas a chance. Hamas blew it. Will the Democrats? I hope not. We need a bi-partizan foreign policy, the kind we during much of the Cold War. All they need to do is follow Joe Liberman.
