This is pathetic and sad, I agree. But so what? There are idiots out there. I'm not sure if the self-selected commenters on "Democratic Underground" are representative of anything other than a fringe of loathsome thugs. But in typical Sullivan fashion, he posts them without a whole lot of context and thus allows the implication to be that these people speak for anything other than a fringe. As a young liberal, I very much did not enjoy the Reagan presidency, but the sentiments expressed on that site are clearly not representative of much of anything. But it's cheap points against an unidentified "left" and so I guess all things are fair . . .
