I know this is holiday time, but our people are dying. I have a friend in Iraq and another on the way. So, I am livid. The idea that we are going to take it while counting down to the elections is the stupidest idea I ever heard. Falujah was supposed to be the beginning not the end. You cannot buy Sunni cooperation by demonstrating that you are helpless against the Terrorists. The release of the French prisoners demonstrates that the terrorist"witche's brew" believes it won and is beginning to reestablish relations with its old friends, the French. The Shia and the Americans are going like sheep to slaughter and the Kurds with their hands tied are waiting to see if Sunni victory will not give them a state after all. That is what I would do, if I were a Kurd.
The entire period reminds me of the Israeli tragedy. There, too, the government of Rabin responded to every blown up bus with the refrain that this is the price of peace. Bush seems to say, this is the price of elections. - Garbage!
We cannot continue dying in larger and larger number until the end of January! And it will be a larger number because as our morale drops, theirs gains altitude.
Israel won but not before it changed policy and even then the cost was higher than it needed to be. At the moment, every day without an offensive, is a day which will cause more American and Iraqi lives.
