Great post as usual, Chris, but I have to pick one nit. You say "In Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi series “Andromeda,” there is a colony called the “Ayn Rand Station”"
It's not clear how justified it is to call this show (or any of the Trek spinoffs) "Gene Roddenberry's ___" If I'm not mistaken, what we have is a brief treatment of a premise Gene thought of before he died, which years later was developed into a show by people who couldn't possibly know what he had in mind. I'm just sayin'...

Yes, you're right. But weren't they titling it "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda"---for marketing purposes?:

Official Site

Now... since we're picking nits... You promised here that you were going to publish a PDF of "A reflection on the relevance of gay-bashing in the comic book world." That was July 8, 2004.

Uh.

Uh.

Looked at your site.

Uh.

Still no PDF.

Uh.

What do we have to do? B E G ???

I keep waiting for that issue to go on-line, but the APA hasn't put it up yet. Newsletters from 2001 and earlier are on-line, and 2004 is up, but not 02 or 03, and that piece was 03. When it's up, I'll link to it!
