Kai Bird, a contributing editor to The Nation, and Martin J. Sherwin, a professor of history at Tufts University, will receive the prize in biography for American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Alfred A. Knopf, 2005). The Pulitzer committee doesn't always get it right, but it hit pay dirt with American Prometheus. This book was decades in the making...and worth the wait.
