Mexican city tells its history through tunnels

The history of this Mexican city lies, literally, under the ground and will be accessible with the opening to the public of a network of tunnels, some of which are 500 years old.

The municipal government is using the "Puebla's Secrets" program to try to restore the tunnels, bridges and other hidden vestiges of a city founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1531 in an area until then inhabited by different Indian peoples.

Sergio Vergara Berdejo, manager of the Puebla History Center, told EFE that the infrastructure tells the city's history from generation to generation.
