Two thousand-year-old wall found in Jerusalem [video 2min]

The southern wall of Jerusalem was built by the Hasmonean Kings during the Second Temple period and is believed to have been destroyed during the Great Revolt against the Romans that began in 66 CE.

Israel's Antiquities Authority announced the discovery of the wall, which is believed to have run 6 km around the Old City.

It had previously been exposed by an American archaeologist at the end of the nineteenth century, the archaeological body said.

The Israeli archaeologist, who carried out the year and a half long ongoing excavation, also uncovered the remains of a city wall from the Byzantine era (324-640 CE) built on top of the Second Temple wall according to the Jerusalem Post...
