The Tuscaloosa Disaster

Many thanks to the many friends who have written me expressing concern.  We are fine and all family members are safe and accounted for.   Although Northport (where we live) was in the original tornado path, it was by-passed entirely.   It also (just barely) by-passed the University of Alabama.

Areas near the University, including much student housing were deciminated as were the communities of Alberta and Holt.  15th Street, one of the main thoroughfares, was leveled in large sections.

People say it looks like an atomic bomb and they're right!  It is inspiring to see how much people are pitching in.   Many of the local talk stations are completely pre-empted with local news and information about volunteering, contributions, etc.
