The Word from Chris

In case you don't know the story, our colleague, Chris Bray, is in Kuwait. He joined us in May 2005 and was about to present his dissertation proposal at UCLA, when he was summoned back to military duty, got married and left California for military service. A free lance writer after graduating from high school, Chris delayed going to college until after his first military tour of duty. He published as Ambrose Beers at Suck.com and, as Chris Bray, in the LA Times op-ed page, the Washington Post's BookWorld, Reason, and elsewhere. Anyway, here's: Christopher Bray,"In My PowerPoint War Zone, It's Hurry Up and Kuwait," New York Observer, 23 October. Its lede:
I was in Sacramento, looking at microfilm. Since Thucydides, most of the great war stories have started with these very words.

Chris, I'm glad to hear you're still OK, and bored.
