Virtual Vietnam Archive

The Vietnam War has had an immense impact on the social, cultural, and political history of the United States. The Vietnam Project's Virtual Vietnam Archive offers available a sigificant amount of primary source material on the war as well as teaching resources. The archive offers the full text of more 80,000 documents, 60,000 photos and slides, hundreds of interviews with veterans and other participants, streaming audio and video recordings, maps, museum objects, and more. The more than 685,000 pages of documents include official government and military records, unit and operation action reports, unit rosters, staff journals and morning reports, personal letters, and diaries. There is no simple site search; all searches are advanced. Users can browse the extensive archive by selecting a list of collection titles on the search page.

This archive is an invaluable resource for researching Vietnam units, individuals, and operations. The “Teacher’s Resources Web” section offers resources at all levels that include syllabi, lesson plans, examinations, and other course material donated by teachers around the country. There is also a discussion group for sharing teaching experiences.
