The Noble Qur'an
In the post-9/11 world, Americans are increasingly interested in understanding Islam and the Qur'an. Among the growing number of websites that offer resources for studying Islam, this is one of the few that provides primary sources.
This site provides three complete online translations of the Qur'an, all by Muslims: Yusuf Ali, M. Shakir, and Marmaduke Pickthall. All three translations are considered solid and scholarly; they reflect the Wahhabi Sunni affiliation of the website’s creator. The Noble Qur'an’s main page provides links to the translations of all 114 chapters of the Qur'an, links to an extensive topic index for the entire Qur'an, search engines for topics and words in the Qur’an, and a database on fundamentalist explanations of chapter titles, time of revelation, and topics of each chapter of the Qur’an. Additional materials include two essays on the miraculous nature of the Qur’an and its scientific insights, an essay on the history of the Qur'an's compilation, and special topic essays on economics and banking, history, human relations, law, misconceptions about Islam, and politics.
