Our colleague, Manan Ahmed, recently called attention to the Library of Congress's photo-sharing site, The Commons, at Flickr. A subset of its offerings includes over 1600 color photographs of scenes in the United States in the 1930s and 1940s.

Motoko Rich,"Editing of Frost's Notebooks in Dispute," NYT, 22 January, features a controversy about Robert Faggin's transcriptions of The Notebooks of Robert Frost.

Jenny McBride,"At Heart, A Baptist Preacher," Books & Culture, 21 January, reviews Clayborne Carson, et al., eds., The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Vol. 6: Advocate of the Social Gospel, September 1948-March 1963. Because Coretta Scott King withheld these documents from the editors of the King Project for 10 years, this volume breaks with the edition's chronological sequencing to offer a huge trove of King's sermons and speeches that have never before been seen by scholars. Clearly, this volume is among the most important in the series and will do much to flesh out MLK's developing theological perspective. John Gravois,"Disputed Iraqi Archives Find a Home at the Hoover Institution," CHE, 23 January, discloses an agreement to warehouse a major archive of Iraq's Baathist Party at Stanford despite the demand of Iraq's archivist that it be returned to Baghdad immediately.
