In this commencement season, Jerry Springer will give the commencement address at Northwestern University's School of Law. For the first time in its history, perhaps, Northwestern revoked the offer of an honorary degree, a doctor of sacred theology to the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Too controversial, we're told. Historian Mary Ann Dzuback has led the opposition, but Washington University in St. Louis will confer an honorary doctor of humane letters on Phyllis Schlafly. Also, Groucho Marx will appear to sing"Whatever It Is, I'm Against It" from Horsefeathers:

Why do universities insist on continuing this corrupt practice anyway? Good for MIT, Cornell, Stanford and Virginia, which refuse to take (almost) any part of it.
