Everybody Must Get Stoned

Liberty and Power’s own Sheldon Richman had a very important column in Sunday’s Washington Times on a proposed program to screen all American’s for the metaphoric disease of mental illness. It seems to me that this is the most grossly underreported story in quite some time. If we lived in a true democracy with a press that was not the handmaiden of an oppressive state the proposition in question would have had a prominent place in the recent debates. It is time to face the fact that the fundamental nature of government drug policy is changing dramatically. A question of prohibition is quickly becoming a question of mandatory use.
