Then there is Russian stupidity

From Time, reporting on a proposed new law that would make it a crime to deny that the Soviets won WW II:

According to a poll of 1,600 Russians released on Wednesday by the Center for the Study of Public Opinion, 60% of Russians say they agree that denying the Soviets won World War II should be criminalized, while 77% believe the Soviet Union liberated Eastern Europe.

As part of our exceptionalist Christian culture, America won the 2nd World War. The Ivans just disrupted the process and raped Western European women. This attitude has permeated Western thought for 60 odd years. Forget Stalingrad, where a million Russians died, stopping Hitler's Wehrmacht and decimating 2/3's of the German army. Forget England's Royal Air Force that destroyed Goehring's Luftwaffe. But primarily it was the Russians, the Russians who led the capture of the concentration camps and destroyed the rail leading to the camps, while the antisemitic American policies left the rail operating. Were it not for the Eastern front, Western Europe would now be part of Greater Germany.
