Cliopatria Welcomes Robert MacDougall ...

Cliopatria welcomes Robert MacDougall to its circle. He is already known to readers of Cliopatria for his terrific website and blog at RobMacDougall.org. Rob is a native of Ontario, Canada, and did his undergraduate work at Queen's University at Kingston. He earned his graduate degrees at Harvard and is now on a post-doc at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge. His interests as an American historian are in nineteenth and twentieth century business and technology. As a young historian, Rob already has a number of distinguished awards and publications. He is currently transforming his dissertation, The People's Telephone: The Politics of Telephony in the United States and Canada, 1876-1926, into his first book. As this suggests, he's interested in transnational and comparative history and in other fascinating things like anti-science, pseudo-science, and robots. For fine samples of his blogging, try any of these. We're delighted that Rob has agreed to join us.

Thanks! I'm glad to be here and in such fine company. Of course, I'm coming aboard just in time for the holidays, when I may be away from blogging for a bit, but I look forward to joining the fray more seriously in the New Year.
